This month we had the pleasure of accompanying 6 of the UK’s home interiors and kbb (kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms) consumer and trade publications to Falmec’s Italian HQ. Our guests included journalists and editors from Kitchens, Bedrooms & Bathrooms; Essential Kitchens, Bathrooms and Bedrooms; Utopia Kitchens & Bathrooms; Essential Kitchen & Bathrooms Business; Kitchens & Bathrooms News and Designer Kitchen & Bathroom. The trip marked the first time that the premium Italian extraction brand opened its HQ factory doors to UK press; revealing innovations in air purification and extraction. And what a trip it was!
On touch down at Venice airport we were whisked via taxi boat to the intriguing island of Murano which is steeped in years of artisanal history. A live glass-blowing demonstration fully set the scene for this trip as Falmec sources this traditional material locally for some of its beautiful extraction systems. After Murano, we hopped back onto the taxi boat for a stroll around the majestic island of Burano. So colourful and peaceful; the lesser known island provided the perfect opportunity for a spritz and Instagram stop! After a delicious sunset dinner we finally jetted back to mainland via speedboat. Needless to say Falmec know how to do things in style!
Artisan glassblowers on the island of Murano undertake 15 years of training before they are fully qualified.
The next morning began bright and early with an introduction to the 30 year old family business from Lorenzo Poser, son of the founder of Falmec. A factory and showroom tour later – plus the reveal of a brand new product (the revolutionary Bellaria) – meant that we fully deserved our snooze on the plane home that evening – honestly!
