For the second year running, Jessops has announced the overall winner of its national amateur photography competition called Share Your Summer. This year, they were delighted to see more than 1000 entries. Share Your Summer provides an excellent vehicle to talk about the brand in local press as each week through the summer we reveal a finalist in another UK city or town.
This year, coverage from the finalists peaked at 30 pieces including numerous articles in titles such as Daily Echo (Southampton), BBC Radio Northampton and the Oxford Mail. This year’s deserved overall winner was Hayley Whalvin of Southampton with her winning image being a photograph of a mouse. On the back of her win the local newspaper ran a series of articles on her photography.
Hayley Whalvin (winner) and Robert Pugh (Judge)
Hayley was revealed as the winner at a ceremony on Friday 8th September at Somerset House, a location steeped in creativity. The event began with a photo walk led by Jessops Academy pros, Karl and Dom, and Share Your Summer brand partner, Sony. We invited Charlie is Distracted, I’m being Erica and Sarah Akwisombe along for the rise so they could pick up some tips from the team on how to improve their photos.
The event ended on a high with the announcement of Hayley’s win by celebrated Sony Ambassador and photographer, Robert Pugh. Here are some of our favourite snaps from the night!
